Everyone Can Have Implants
Some patients get turned away for implants by their dentist due to losing one or multiple teeth resulting in insufficient bone in their jaw.
At Meadow Walk, we offer a free consultation where we will carry out a full assessment of your general health and oral health.
We may recommend having a CT scan which identifies any bone loss and this procedure is carried out conveniently at the practice.
During this consultation, you will be advised if you need any prior surgery to support a dental implant. If so, you may have to undergo bone-grafting treatment which ensures there is sufficient bone to support a long-lasting implant. You will be put under general anaesthesia for this surgery, which will put you to sleep.
Bone-grafting is where the surgeon will make an incision in your gum, and using a special bone grafting material they will shape the adopted bone to fit the area. Once secure, the surgeon will close the incision with stitches and bandage the wound. Once the bone-grafting is complete and healed the rest of the implant surgery can proceed.
